ABOUT US

We were born and live in a land of masks, Sardinia, where their use and the traditions linked to them are rooted in a distant past.
For over thirty years we have been studying and collecting masks, starting from our land and over the years expanding around the world.

This site was born at first as a personal need to fix all the information read and seen around over the years and thus have a container in which to go to search for them as needed.

Thus was born a tool for all fans and collectors who want to expand their knowledge or who want a website where you can find information and images on the masks.

In this site you will find only wearable masks, as far as possible avoiding the "tourist" masks made only for artistic purposes and as souvenirs.
An exception is made only for passport masks that are not wearable due to their function, but still retain all the characteristics of wearable masks.

We thought the website divided into three sections:
- an archaeological section that collects the masks of the past intended as archaeological finds linked to ancient civilizations;

- a section on traditional masks, where we mean masks that have their roots in the past, but are still used in some way today;

- a section of modern masks that includes masks of artisans and contemporary artists, but with artefacts with modern characteristics such as shapes or materials, although sometimes drawing on traditional styles.

No less important is the section dedicated to mask makers who keep the art of masks alive whether they are tied to tradition or in modern forms and materials.
